盛夏の候、皆様におかれましては益々ご健勝のこととお慶び申し上げます。

去る7月6日、インディアナ大学日本同総会ならびに堤先生の文化勲章受章を祝う会においては、ご多忙の中ご臨席を賜り、誠にありがとうございました。皆様の温かいご支援とご厚情により、心温まる会となり、盛会のうちに無事終了することができました。

また、会の後日、堤先生ご本人より、丁寧なお礼のメッセージを頂戴いたしました。以下に内容をご紹介いたします。

拝復。早速にご丁寧なメールを頂戴致し恐縮致しております。先日は大勢の皆様から暖かく今回の私の受章を祝って頂け、本当に光栄に感じておりますと同時に大変に有難いことだと、心から感謝致しております。IU　FoundationからのRepresentativesを含めとても多くの会員の皆様の出席を頂き、感激致しました。Indiana Universityという独特の素晴らしさを持った大学を通じて皆が心を通じ会うことが出来るというのは本当に貴重であり、大事に育てて行くかなくてはならないものだと強く感じました。同窓会のRaison d’etreがますます大きくなってくるものと思います。これからも何か私に出来ることが御座いましたら是非お声をおかけ下さい。この度は本当に有難う御座いました。花川様始め皆様のお陰で御座います。私の心からの感謝の気持ちを皆様にお伝え下さいますでしょうか。本当に暑い日が続いておりますが健康には十分ご留意下さい。取り急ぎお礼まで。

We hope this message finds you well during this height of summer.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended the Indiana University Japan Alumni Association gathering and the celebration of Dr. Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi’s Order of Culture award on July 6. Despite your busy schedules, your presence contributed to making the occasion both heartwarming and memorable. Thanks to your kind support and warm spirits, the event concluded successfully and joyfully.

We are also pleased to share that we received a gracious letter of appreciation from Dr. Tsutsumi following the event. His message is translated below:

Reply from Dr. Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi:

Thank you very much for your kind and prompt email.
I was truly honored and deeply grateful to receive such a warm celebration of my award from so many of you the other day.

I was especially moved to see such a large number of alumni in attendance, including representatives from the IU Foundation. It reminded me how truly special Indiana University is—how it uniquely brings people together through shared bonds. I believe that this connection is something incredibly precious, and it is our responsibility to nurture and sustain it.

I feel that the raison d’être of our alumni association will only continue to grow in significance.
If there is anything I can do to contribute in the future, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I am especially grateful to Ms. Hanakawa and everyone who helped make this possible.
